Artistic Creations by Rich Conti

RichInRhythm

Born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York, I began studying music and percussion at an early age.  I went on to receive a bachelor's degree in Music Therapy and practiced that for several years.  I continued my professional career by receiving a bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy and I and I recently retired from working with children and adults with disabilities at Misericordia Home.

I've always kept my music going as an avocation.  I became interested in world percussion and was lucky enough to play in such varied groups as The Oakton Percussion Ensemble, The Primal Connection, The Mambo Express, Picante, The Friends of the Gamelon, and currently in the award winning world music group Funkadesi. I studied Brazilian percussion and music in Salvador, Bahia and performed in the Carnival.  I have composed several pieces of music.

Photography and woodworking are interests that have grown only in the past few years.

I have traveled throughout the world and have been lucky enough to capture intriguing images of landscapes, wildlife, architecture, and people within the various locations and cultures I have visited.

Woodworking has brought me to new avenue of creativity.  I stretch the boundries of wood artistry and I am now incorporating elements of mosaic art into my pieces - "Woodsaics".  I  sell my work at street art festivals in the summer and I have shown pieces in The Triple R Gallery, Vibrant Cast Art Gallery, and The Gallery of Contemporary Mosaics.

There are similar aspects of creativity weave through all of the arts, especially the use of rhythm.

What a pleasure it is to create works of art of all kinds that are Rich In Rhythm.
